Richard Stites
Richard was born outside Boston Massachusetts in a small
town called Wayland. As a child Richard was exposed to all forms of
the arts by his mother who was a professional artist. All through his
childhood the house had been filled with the art related experiences
to include fine art, crafts, music and the performing arts.
His college career began in 1969 at Franklin Pierce College in NH. He
quickly moved to Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa where he first met
his wife Ramona. Richard then transferred to the University of Iowa
to study computer art with one of the leading artist of the day. Eventually
returning to the East coast and Franklin Pierce, he earned a degree
in Fine Art in 1977.
After Richard & Ramona were married in Oak Creek Canyon in 1978
he worked in various fields to include computers, where he still has
a successful consultation business. Richard has always had a desire
to return to arts and did so this year with a series of small plein-aire
paintings. His work is spontaneous and rich with textural elements.
He is enjoying this re-found creative outlet as well as the chance
to go out and paint with his artist-wife, Ramona.
Richard is excited about his new journey and looks forward to expressing
his creativity through the painting media.
